Mr. Harmon

Mr. Harmon, also known as Terrence J. Harmon, is the Kilroy Chairholder in Natural Science and Environmental Studies and the Outdoor Projects Advisor at University School. He is widely recognized as a legendary science and outdoor education teacher. He began his career at University School in the fall of 1970, when the Hunting Valley Upper School campus first opened. He was initially hired to teach biology and develop an outdoor program utilizing the campus's natural resources. Mr. Harmon is credited with establishing the popular maple sugaring and trout hatchery programs, which have engaged students for over 30 years. He has also guided students in building replicas of authentic birch bark canoes, connecting them to natural history and science. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Biology and Environmental Sciences from The University of Michigan and was a recipient of the Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award in 2002.
